Adolescent & Adult Psychiatrist
Dr. Risam is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist. She completed her medical education from Sofia University, and Psychiatry residency from Arnot Ogden Medical Center in upstate New York. Prior to Medical School, she completed a Masters Degree in Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology.
She provides thoughtful, individualized care that integrates evidence-based medicine with a deeply humanistic approach—bridging the art and science of mental health. Her clinical philosophy emphasizes deep listening, authenticity, and a commitment to lasting wellness in both mind and spirit.
With expertise in psychopharmacology and a range of psychotherapeutic modalities founded in her masters degree training in clinical psychology, Dr. Risam develops personalized treatment plans that address each patient’s unique needs, offering both immediate relief and long-term healing.
Known for her warm, collaborative presence, she fosters a safe, nonjudgmental space where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered. Dr. Risam approaches every patient encounter with empathy, curiosity, and clinical precision, building strong, trusting relationships.
Dr. Risam remains actively engaged in ongoing education, interdisciplinary dialogue, and the latest advances and best practices in psychiatry. She believes that meaningful change begins with open conversation—and that healing is most powerful when guided by both scientific insight and authentic human connection.
Dr Risam treats patients ages 16 and up.
Dr Risam is a member of the American Psychiatric Association.
Dr Risam has unrestricted license to practice medicine in the states of Illinois and Florida.
